Education Program

Topology provides developmental workshops for composers at secondary and tertiary levels. The band members can visit individually or as a whole group. Topology also offers professional development for music teachers, specifically to assisting in teaching composition.

Topology’s distinctive contribution is their capacity to work with students from a range of stylistic backgrounds. Its ability to integrate pop-oriented singer songwriters, classical performers, film-oriented composers and others is a key strength, drawing on the members’ own varied experiences in collaboration with leading figures across comedy, popular music, jazz and classical music.

Students work closely in a project-based setting with active, leading composers and performers.  They engage with the latest ideas and practices in Australian composition and performance at a high level.  The students work with compositions at the deepest level by close study, discussion and understanding of the work.
